Project Aims
- Air pollution: Physico-chemical measurements and monitoring
A review of the pollutants measured, physico-chemical equipment used and characteristics of the sites monitored will be carried out for each city and the results compared. The information will be related to objectives defined by the EU Air Quality Directive for the protection of human health and sensitive vegetation and ecosystems and the Russian health objectives.
Air quality policies in each city will be reviewed with particular interest in schemes such as traffic management and alternative transport modes. This part of the project will be led by Professor Frank Kelly of King's College London, UK, who will work closely with MED and SEEM. - Biological Monitoring
